Hey! I’m Anthony!

Hey! I am Anthony!

I am a personal training/fitness coach based in San Diego. My purpose is to guide and teach you the skills necessary for you to build your body through exercise, nutrition and mindset. Together, our goal is to build a relationship with wellness that is sustainable and enjoyable.

My mission as a personal trainer has been shaped by my own journey with fitness and the lessons I have learned along the way. This story began when I was a young teenager. The academic course load I took was stressful and I needed an outlet. Running, biking and even rollerblading were activities of choice. When I started these recreations I was just intending to burn off some extra energy, but as I continued, I loved the meditative head space I found while performing them. Not only did I get sweaty, but my mood and focus was better. I would continue these activities for years, but as I entered college I noticed my body was so much more lanky compared to other guys. Many of my mentors and coaches told me I was a late bloomer, but as I started this new chapter in my life I felt that the contrast needed to be addressed.

I was 18 years old and I decided to sign up for the gym down the street from my college to try resistance training. Although I was ready to jump in head first, I can definitely say that I did not have a plan. Looking back at this time, I applaud myself for throwing myself into an unknown world that would later change and define my career. The bulk of the information I accrued during this phase was from “bro-tastic” YouTube videos. I was eager to learn how people organized their training and built their bodies. I found an overwhelming volume of information; some good, some useful for me now and some useful for me later and others information that was just gimmicky or poor advice. I put together an exercise plan using my best judgment, and through trial and error I learned what worked. During this part of my journey I added a significant amount of muscle mass, but was still working towards an athletic body.

When I transferred to San Diego State University I was serious about building my career. I had three internships simultaneously, and fortunately, they all taught me something about myself and what I wanted out of life. I worked in research for two years. I spent half of those two years working on an ecology project in the desert, and the other half assisting in a nutrition study. This experience showed me that my passion was working with people, and more specifically, helping people. I also took on a volunteer position at a hospital and while I was happy to work with people, the gravity of many peoples’ health issues was far too heavy for me to confront on a daily basis. I left the hospital broken-hearted about the suffering I had seen, some of which could have been prevented. My third internship was marketing with a personal training company, Strong Made Simple. Brian Tabor, the owner, asked me to help with promotional events and while doing so I also observed what he was doing with his clients- building a community of people who wanted to get healthier to live their lives as their best selves.

I would go on to get certified as a personal trainer and work alongside my mentor, learning from him and also investing in supplemental education. It's exciting to have my passion also be my career. From being a newbie to a fitness enthusiast, and then growing into a fitness professional, I have cultivated strategies that help people get started on their own journeys with fitness. I hope to share with you what I have learned about building a sustainable relationship with health and wellness that will yield long term success and habits that will last a lifetime.

Looking forward to meeting you in person soon! Cheers!
